Bean is pushing back against a boycott led by a group urging consumers not to shop at retailers that support President-elect Donald Trump after it was revealed that Linda Bean, heir of the Maine-based company's founder, had donated to a political action committee that helped elect Trump. "We are deeply troubled by the portrayal of L.L. Bean as a supporter of any political agenda," Shawn Gorman, L.L. Bean's executive chairman, said in a statement posted to Facebook late Sunday.

(Reuters) - Delta Air Lines Inc on Thursday reported a higher-than-expected profit for the second quarter and said it would make fewer seats available to the United Kingdom and elsewhere than previously planned this autumn so ticket prices do not drop. Atlanta-based Delta also said it would increase its flight capacity - its seats and how far it flies them - one percentage point less than it had expected for the fourth quarter to match reduced demand. Some of the biggest cuts will involve the United Kingdom.

(Reuters) - Valeant Pharmaceuticals International Inc said on Thursday its former CEO Michael Pearson remains a significant shareholder of the Canadian drugmaker. Valeant said Pearson exercised and sold options representing about 4.4 million shares and sold about 411,000 shares of common stock in June and July. Pearson, who was replaced by Joseph Papa in May, still holds more than 3.5 million shares and is required to hold 1 million shares for two years following employment termination. Another report on Thursday showed producer prices recorded their biggest gain in a year in June on rising costs for energy products and services. The data signaled economic strength that could allow the Federal Reserve to raise interest rates later this year.

JPMorgan Chase & Co reported a marginally lower second-quarter profit on Thursday but still beat subdued analyst expectations, helped by loan growth and a tight control on operating expenses. The biggest U.S. bank by assets said its profit slipped 1 percent versus the same period a year earlier, as it set aside more money to meet future loan losses. JPMorgan shares were 2.4 percent higher in premarket trading.
